Reading Billy Collins

The author has multiple attempts to get his class to understand a poem, but it is very difficult for many of them; which is what happens in many classrooms some student can not grasp the concepts of some poems. He attempts to let his pupils read and work their way through the poem. The students begin to struggle with the interpretation of the poem and try to force the meaning of the lines. The teacher is using them to convey the students are the ones struggling.

  1. I agree this is what goes on in the classrooms today. We, as students, have a hard time at grasping different concepts of poetry. It takes strong teachers as he to guide students to search deeper into the meaning of poems.
